Drivers Rerouted Around Natural Gas Leak

SPOKANE — Drivers are asked to avoid the area of Magnesium and Hill ‘n Dale Road in Spokane because of a natural gas leak. No evacuations have been required but crews are clogging the roads trying to get the leak fixed.

Laurine Jue, a spokesperson for Avista, said that crews were close to identifying where the leak was coming from early Wednesday afternoon.  They believe an underground gas line has ruptured but can’t find the exact source.

As soon as Avista works find the source of the leak, they will start digging to fix the problem. Spokane fire officials were on scene assisting with traffic concerns.

Avista was notified about the leak by a customer who smelled something off early Wednesday morning.
