Drifting snow closes SR 27 in Latah

LATAH, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation closed a portion of State Route 27 Thursday morning in Latah due to drifting snow.

Video from Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeff Sevigney shows the dangerous conditions:

State Route 27 is closed just south of Fairfield. I drove through and made it down to Latah before turning around to close the highway. @WSDOT_East crews are working to clear the road but it may take some time.

The closure is affecting the southbound lane of SR 27 at milepost 55.

The SB lane of SR 27 is closed at milepost 55 in Latah due to drifting snow. We have crews working in the area. Please be patient as we work clear the snow drifts. There is no ETA to reopen the southbound lane of SR 27 at this time.

WSDOT says it has crews working in the area and asks drivers to be patient as they clear the snow drifts.

There is no estimated time when the southbound lane of SR 27 will be reopened.
