Detectives look to identify man, woman who may have had contact with Wandermere shooting suspect
SPOKANE, Wash. — Detectives are searching for two people they believe had contact with the suspect in a North Spokane murder on the day of the incident.
Investigators believe the man and woman shown in the photos below may have had contact with the suspect after the shooting and murder of Misty Hirsch. Investigators described them as witnesses.
Hirsch was killed on July 7 in the Wandermere neighborhood. Jonathan R. Andersen, 31, was arrested the following day near Rowan and Monroe after a short pursuit.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies believe the shooting stemmed from an incident earlier that day near the Lowe’s in North Spokane. According to court documents, Hirsch had been there with a female friend and her boyfriend.
Based on interviews, authorities believe Hirsch approached Andersen at a carwash and gave him a purse, saying something to the effect that it was a mistake to take it. Investigators believe the purse in question belonged to Andersen’s fiancé.
Hirsch then reportedly went back to her vehicle and drove away. Investigators believe Andersen followed her.
Deputies said Hirsch pulled to the side of the road and tried to wave the car forward, but believe Andersen instead pulled up next to the victim and began firing a pistol before driving away. Hirsch was with two other people in the car, but she was the only person hit.
Deputies said Andersen was driving a red SUV at the time, which they later found at a local apartment.
Andersen left his apartment on July 8 in the red SUV and deputies attempted to get him to stop. He fled and was ultimately taken into custody after a pursuit and pit maneuver.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the man and woman they are hoping to speak to had contact with Andersen hours after Hirsch’s death. They were seen at the Walmart on N. Colton.
Deputies said the man entered the store, purchased items and met with the woman who was driving the car shown in the photos. Authorities said the woman contacted Andersen who was driving the red SUV and gave him some of the items from the store.
