Detectives Investigating ‘Brutal’ Murder Scene

SPOKANE — Spokane Police detectives are investigating the murder of a woman at a residence in the 1300 block of South Chestnut.

The situation started Monday morning around 8 a.m. when Cole Strandberg, 22, walked into an area hospital and made comments which caused concern among staff members. They contacted the police who then went to the residence where they found the body of a woman inside.

The identity of the murder victim is not known. Officers describe the crime scene as ‘extensive’ and ‘brutal.’

“We’re not going to talk about what’s inside,” Sergeant Joe Peterson with the Spokane Police Department said. “We’re still investigating and other than that … it’s pretty extensive in there.”

Detectives are working to determine who the woman was, what connection she had to Strandberg and how she ended up in his residence.

Strandberg, meanwhile, has been arrested on a charge of 1st Degree Murder.
