Deputies arrest two suspects, find meth in stolen coat pocket

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley Deputies arrested two males who attempted to rob a Sportsman’s Warehouse Sunday. One male juvenile was arrested for an active felony warrant, and an adult male was arrested for possessing meth and lying about his identity.

On Sunday around 11 a.m., two Spokane Valley deputies responded to the parking lot of the Sportsman’s Warehouse in Spokane Valley for a reported attempted theft.

The deputies saw a vehicle with three males matching a description given by a store employee.

The front passenger, later identified as 20-year-old Tyler Packwood, said he didn’t have identification and said his last name was Donaldson. Deputies were able to correctly identify Packwood and discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest. Deputies also discovered a pair of brass knuckles in his pants pocket and two baggies containing meth and marijuana in his coat pocket. Packwood said he borrowed the coat from a friend and didn’t know the drugs were there.

Packwood was booked into the Spokane County Jail for a felony Washington State Department of Corrections warrant, a misdemeanor warrant, and new charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Making False Statements to Law Enforcement.

Another passenger, a 17-year-old male, was booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention for an active felony warrant for his arrest.

The third male in the car was not charged.
