Deputies arrest 13-year-old girl for social media threat, possibly done as part of a dare

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A 13-year-old girl was arrested for making a threat via social media at West Valley City School, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
A release from the department said deputies responded to the school around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
School staff said three students reported receiving a threatening message, noting Monday, February 10 specifically.
A school resource deputy and district officials, along with Major Crimes detectives, investigated the threat. After identifying the suspect, the SRD learned the girl was also one of three students who initially reported the threat. She was arrested for felony threats to bomb or injure property and booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
The investigation indicated the threat may have been made as part of a dare, deputies said. Authorities said it does not appear there was an actual plan to harm anyone.
