Deer poachers raided in Okanogan County

Washington Fish and Wildlife investigators believe they have solved a deer poaching case in Okanogan County.

Officers with support from sheriff’s deputies and Colville Tribal Police served search warrants Friday at four properties and seized nine deer heads with trophy antlers.

Wildlife Sgt. Jim Brown told The Wenatchee World hunters used spotlights at night to kill the deer.

Investigators are still reviewing evidence. Brown says several people suspected of illegal hunting could be arrested in the next few weeks. If convicted, poachers would have to pay a fine of $6,000 for each buck.
