Crews knock down fire at Pentagon Bistro, firefighter injured

Spokane Valley fire achieve record-breaking cardiac survival rate
 

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire at the Pentagon Bistro and Martini Bar in Liberty Lake Monday night.

Spokane Valley firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the restaurant around 9:20 p.m. Heavy fire was found on the northeast corner of the restaurant in the vinyl siding and underside of exposed wood eaves.

Firefighters knocked the fire down in seven minutes and kept the damage to the exterior siding, soffit and fascia. There was smoke throughout the building that was blown out with high pressure fans.

The restaurant was closed at the time of the fire and no employees were present. One firefighter was injured when a portion of the interior ceiling fell on him during overhaul operations. He was taken to the hospital for precautionary evaluation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and the restaurant is expected to be closed through the end of the week to clean up before resuming take-out service.
