Crews Fighting Stevens County Shop Fire

SPRINGDALE – Crews from Stevens County Fire District #1 are fighting a large shop fire west of Springdale and are hoping to prevent it from spreading.

The fire was first reported around 9:30 p.m. on the 4800 block of Luther Road, north of Springdale-Hunters Road. When crews arrived, they found the shop fully involved in flames.

One of the problems crews faced was a stiff breeze that was blowing embers from the fire into some nearby woods. A crew from the Department of Natural Resources was called in to help prevent it from spreading. A crew from Stevens County Fire District #4 was also called in to help contain the fire to the shop.

Crews expect to be at the scene for a number of hours, as crews put out the fire and make sure no burning embers spread to the trees.
