Crews Contain Wildfire Near Liberty Lake
LIBERTY LAKE — Fire crews have contained a wildfire near Liberty Lake that at one point was threatening to spread quickly.
The fire in Liberty Lake Regional Park, southeast of Liberty Lake, was first reported around 2 p.m. The fire was first reported as being over five acres, but that figure was later stated as being two acres.
Crews from the Washington Department of Natural Resources and the Spokane Valley Fire Department fought the fire, which was burning in brush and timber south of the park’s off-road vehicle area. By 5 p.m., crews were controling the blaze and no further growth was expected.
A cause is not known, and no homes were threatened.
