Crews Battling Eastern Washington Fires

Crews are fighting wildfires around Eastern Washington Monday evening. In Lincoln County suggested evacuations have been issued northeast of Highway 2 between Creston and Telford because of a wildfire. The has Highway 2 closed down between Davenport and Wilbur. It started outside of Creston near Swans Lake Road and Watson Road around 5 p.m., and has about 10 square miles. One unoccupied home has been destroyed, as has the Grange Hall near the Telford Rest Area. A dozen homes are still threatened in the Hawk Creek and Miles Creston Road areas. Shelters have been set up at Davenport High School and Creston City Hall.

Near the Whitman and Spokane County line, crews are fighting a fire that’s grown to a few hundred acres near Brock Lake Road. Whitman County Sheriff’s officials say there is no word on evacuations or homes threatened.
