SPOKANE, Wash.- The Spokane Police Department issued a safety reminder in the hours after someone was hit by a car Sunday night, urging pedestrians to be careful at night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Alberta Street and Heroy Avenue, in the Shadle Park area, around 5:45 p.m. SPD said the driver was headed south on Alberta Street and didn’t see the pedestrian. Investigators don’t know yet whether the person was in the crosswalk at the time. He was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to police.

The driver is cooperating with investigators, according to SPD. Neither speed nor impairment appear to be a factor in the crash. The incident is still under investigation.

SPD issued a reminder that people should always use crosswalks or cross at the intersection when it is clear.
