Cougs fall to Air Force in the Cheez It Bowl

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Air Force Falcons used long, time-consuming drives all night long to control the clock, and control the game as they knock off the Washington State Cougars 31-21 in the Cheez It Bowl Friday night.

The tone was set early in the game as the Cougars marched right down the field, but Max Borghi was stopped on the 2 yard line on fourth down to turn the ball over.

The Falcons then put on a show of ball control offense as they went on a 20 play, 98 yard drive that took up 12:23 on the clock.  The drive finished with a QB sneak touchdown by Donald Hammond III on the first play of the 2nd quarter.

The teams exchanged scores most of the rest of the game, but in the end, it was the efficiency of the Air Force run game that was the difference.  The Falcons ran for over 370 yards on the night.

The loss drops WSU to 6-7 on the season, their first losing season since 2014.
