Clarkston Man Pleads Guilty To Deadly Hit And Run

LEWISTON — Prosecutors have reached a plea deal with a Clarkston man who hit and killed an eight-year-old girl in an apartment complex parking lot in Lewiston in May.

James Schuetze, 45, pleaded guilty in Lewiston Wednesday morning to charges of vehicular manslaughter and aggravated driving while under the influence.

In early May Schuetze was driving a vehicle in an apartment complex in Lewiston when he hit eight-year-old Sydney Byrd and 54-year-old Gregory Engel.

Both were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where Byrd later died from massive head injuries. Engel recovered from his injuries.
