City of Spokane Valley files lawsuit over structural damage in City Hall

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The City of Spokane Valley filed a lawsuit with the Spokane County Super Court Monday over signs of structural damage in City Hall.
According to the City, the curved wall in the east council chambers of the building was poorly constructed.
The lawsuit was filed against Meridian Construction, Architects West, Allwest Testing & Engineering and Eight31 Consulting.
In a letter to the Meridian Construction’s owner Mark D’Agostino, the city claimed a breach of contract and construction related to the soil settlement underneath the footings on the northeast wall of the council chamber or “curved wall.”

The City says the next stage in the process is a referral to a private arbitrator for resolution, due to a mandatory arbitration clause in the construction contracts.
