Circuit City sets return date
Electronics retailer Circuit City has plans for a comeback.
According to CNBC, the retailer that closed all of its stores in 2009 has picked Feb. 15 as the day it will relaunch its website.
Twice.com reported that CEO Ronny Shmoel said at the Consumer Electronics Show that the website will feature videos, virtual vignettes, search-by-photo, augmented reality and real-time tech support.
Shmoel took control of the brand, domain and trademarks of the company in Oct. 2015, CNBC reported.
Circuit City has partnered with SkinnyIT to provide home installations and with Taylored Group to design 8,000-10,000 square feet showrooms, Twice.com reported. No date has been set for when the showrooms will roll out.
Shmoel said products will include audio-visual items, computers, gaming, imaging small appliances and smart home products, according to the Twice.com report.
Circuit City filed for bankruptcy in 2008, and the company closed all of its stores in 2009.
