SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs extended their winning streak to six games on Wednesday as they dropped the Moose Jaw Warriors, 2-1 in overtime. Eli Zummack scored the game-winner to beat Moose Jaw’s Brock Gould, who earned first star honors with 57 saves.

The Chiefs dominated the shots on goal 24-4 through the first period, but it was the Warriors that entered the break leading 1-0. Chase Hartje became the first player to score against Spokane netminder James Porter Jr. in three starts when he slammed home a rebound at 3:16. Porter’s shutout streak ended at 158:30.

Spokane’s barrage of shots finally proved fruitful at 7:53 in the second when an Eli Zummack backhand pass through the slot found Graham Sward on the back door. Sward slid it past Gould for his second of the season to even things up at one apiece.

Following a scoreless third period, things headed to be decided in overtime despite the Chiefs leading shots on goal 58-18 through 60 minutes. It took just 34 seconds of extra play for Zummack to find the net, beating Gould over the blocker to clinch the victory.

Gould finished 57-of-59 between the pipes while Porter secured his fifth-straight win as a Chief with a 17-for-18 performance. Spokane was held 0-for-3 on the power play and Moose Jaw went 0-for-1.
