CdA school leaders vow to crack down on bullies

Members of the Coeur d’Alene School Board are vowing to crack down on bullies.

The board agreed Monday to direct school administrators to form a task force to determine the scope of bullying problems and recommend solutions.

Board officials also say they intend to streamline district policies governing student conduct, harassment, bullying, threats and use of cellphones and tablets.

District Superintendent Hazel Bauman says the problems with bullying persist despite best efforts by staff to prevent it. Until there is an end to bullying behavior, Bauman says the task remains before us.

One local mother with two children in the schools urged the board to include cyber-bullying and intimidation on Facebook and Twitter in the review.
