CdA educator named 2013 Idaho Teacher of the Year

A Canfield Middle School teacher was named 2013 Idaho Teacher of the Year by Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna Thursday morning in Coeur d’Alene.
Kate Pemberton, a math teacher at Canfield in Coeur d’Alene, was named teacher of the year. She has been teaching for seven years, is an adjunct professor at Lewis-Clark State College, and previously won the Presidential Award for Excellence for Mathematics and Science Teaching.
“Katie Pemberton is the ultimate educator,” said Nick Lilyquist, Principal of Canfield Middle School. “She arrives at school every day with a positive attitude and determined to help all her students succeed in mathematics.”
As Idaho’s teacher of the year, she received $1,000, an all expenses paid trip to Washington, DC and will represent Idaho as a nominee for the National Teacher of the Year.
