CDA and Winthrop nationally ranked for ‘Best Small Towns to Explore this Autumn’
Coeur d’Alene and Winthrop have made a national ranking for the Best Small Towns for Fall in the Pacific Northwest.
As part of CarRental’s ‘21 Best Small Towns in America’ rankings, this list explores some of the prettiest, liveliest and most activity-heavy towns in the Pacific Northwest:
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
CDA received the top ranking for its beautiful colors and plentiful outdoor activities. Points of note are the Mineral Ridge Trail, Tubbs Hill, the Centennial Trail, as well as events like Coeur d’Alene Oktoberfest and Whiskey Barrel Weekend. Not mention Silverwood, and especially its Halloween counterpart ‘Scarywood’.
Winthrop, Washington
Winthrop ranked at #7 on the list, with the Falls Creek Waterfall, Winthrop Vintage Wheels Show and the very active brewery scene contributing to its score. The town’s charming Old West feel has earned it recognition on the list. If you are looking for outdoor activities, you will find the Metho Wildlife Area and Pearrygin Lake State Park. Afterwards, you can get some refreshments at one of the 22 breweries and restaurants around the area.
Other towns on the list are heavy-hitters like Leavenworth, which is admittedly beautiful all days of the year, and Hood River, a cozy river-town that sits in the shadow of Mount Hood – and will likely be picturesque forever.
Rounding out the list is Poulsbo (WA), McCall (ID) and Cottage Grove (OR).
It is great to see such strong representation from this side of the country, and also settles the age-old debate as to whether places as far east as Idaho are part of the illustrious ‘Pacific Northwest,’ right?
