Building health, happiness along with the North Spokane Corridor

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington Department of Transportation is inviting the public to a meeting on Monday, Oct. 15, to help prioritize placemaking concepts for the North Spokane Corridor and adjacent Children of the Sun Trail.
Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces.
The approach is meant to capitalize on the local community’s assets, inspiration and potential, with the intention of creating public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being.
WSDOT says in the last 18 months it has worked with the City of Spokane and Eastern Washington University to identify placemaking opportunities for the NSC and Children of the Sun Trail.
The information gathered with the public’s help has been turned into preliminary concepts that will be presented at Monday’s meeting.
