Britney Spears Hospitalized
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears is in the hospital, reportedly for a mental evaluation.
The 26-year-old pop star was taken from her Los Angeles home by ambulance early Thursday, escorted by more than a dozen police motorcycles, two squad cars and two helicopters.
One officer told The Associated Press that Spears was taken away to, quote, “get help.” The Los Angeles Times and various celebrity Web sites say she has been place on “a mental evaluation hold.”
The young entertainer has been involved in a number of troubling incidents in recent months. Just four weeks ago, police were called to her home in Studio City when she refused to return her two young sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
That time, police had paramedics take her to a hospital. The reason was not disclosed and she was released a day and a-half later. Since then, she has lost visitation rights with the boys, who are in Federline’s custody.
The couple divorced last summer after nearly three years of marriage.
