Bonner Co. murder suspect arrested in Spokane

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, Nathan Lane Utt was booked into the Spokane County jail. He’s suspected of killing 78-year-old Shirley Ann Ramey in her home in Hope, Idaho.

On April 5 at about 5:00 p.m., the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ramey’s home on Trestle Creek Road, where Shirley had been found by her husband. The next day, BCSO identified Utt as a suspect.

BCSO says there does not appear to be a relationship between the Rameys and Utt, who at the time of the murder, was living in a camper on Trestle Creek Road.

Detectives discovered that Utt had fled the state and was believed to be in Oregon. With assistance from the US Marshall Service, they were able track the whereabouts of Utt and arrest him at the Spokane Train Station. Utt was booked into the Spokane County Jail where he awaits extradition back to Idaho.
