Board Approves Fee Hikes For Idaho Universities

BOISE, Idaho — The state Board of Education has approved tuition and fee increases for full-time, in-state university students between 5 and 7 percent next year.

The University of Idaho, Idaho State University, Boise State University and Lewis-Clark State College went to the board on Monday with proposals to increase tuition and fees between 5 percent and 9 percent to help make up for cuts in state higher education funding.

The board agreed to the 5 percent increase at Boise State University, but rejected higher increases sought by other schools.

Lewis-Clark State College requested the largest increase at 9 percent, a proposal the board lowered to 7 percent.

The board approved 6 1/2 percent increases at Idaho State University and the University of Idaho.
