Australian Wrestles Kangaroo From Family Home

CANBERRA, Australia — An Australian man fought off a feisty intruder and saved his family over the weekend.

A kangaroo — about 90 pounds — bounded into Beat Ettlin’s home near Canberra early Sunday morning. His first thought was that the intruder bouncing on his bed was a “lunatic ninja” that had come through the window.

Ettlin took action after the ‘roo hopped into his son’s room. He got it into a headlock, wrestled it toward the front door and pushed it out into the darkness.

The ordeal lasted a few minutes and left gouges in the woodwork and a trail of blood on the floor. Ettlin’s nursing some scratches.

Experts say kangaroos rarely invade homes — but they have in the past when panicked.
