As Many As 13 Dead In Bus Crash

DALLAS — As many as 13 people are dead after a charter bus ran off a highway overpass north of Dallas and crashed onto its side on a roadway below Friday.

Police say the bus carrying 55 people to Missouri from Houston may have blown a tire. The Dallas Morning News and KHOU-TV is quoting Sherman police as saying 12 adults died at the scene and another died at a Dallas hospital.

Police say the accident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Friday. Scores of injured have been rushed to Sherman and Dallas hospitals via helicopter ambulances.

A spokeswoman at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman said it was treating 17 patients. A spokesman with Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas said four people from the crash are in critical condition there.
