Arizona’s Deandre Ayton declares for NBA draft
Arizona freshman star forward Deandre Ayton is leaving the Wildcats for the NBA draft.
The 19-year-old made the announcement on his Twitter feed Wednesday.
The 7-foot-1, 260-pound Ayton average 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds in his one season with Arizona.
He was named Pac-12 player of the year and helped the Wildcats to the both the ACC regular season and tournament titles.
The Wildcats’ season came to an end Thursday with a first-round 89-68 upset loss to No. 13 Buffalo.
Ayton had 14 points, 13 rebounds and one block in that loss, which will go down as his only NCAA Tournament game.
