Amy Puts Kootenai High School On The Map
HARRISON, Idaho — Kootenai High School is one of the smallest schools in North Idaho, but there’s plenty of talent there.
Senior Dakota Amy is more than just an athlete at Kooteani High School, he’s the definition of the all-American guy.
“He’s a great kid, and a heck of an athlete, actually a great athlete. He’s probably going to be valedictorian of his class, he’s just dedicated to every phase in his life,” head coach Doug Napierala said.
When it comes to sports, football is Dakota’s favorite, and he’s a big part of the team as he plays on both the offense and the defense.
“I like linebacker,” Amy said. “I came in as a freshmen and they just stuck me in a starting position. I took my licks and built up a little bit.”
Dakota has also built up a pretty good high school resume, he’s not only the student body president but he holds a 4.0 G.P.A.
“School just comes pretty good to me especially in the science classes, I just have a real knack for it,” Amy said.
Perfect grades are always a plus, but what Dakota really wants happens out on the field.
“Just carry it up hopefully. Everyone likes a state championship. Not saying we are going to get one but we’ll try,” Amy said.
Dakota plans on going to college closer to home or all the way on the East Coast. He plans on majoring in sports science.
