All-time record high today. Almost as hot again tomorrow. – Kris
It is not a record that I enjoyed breaking. The temperature at Spokane International Airport soared to 109° today, which topped the ALL-TIME record for Spokane of 108° set in 1961. It also CRUSHED our daily record of 98° set back in 1939. I don’t think we will set another all-time record tomorrow, but it will be close. After an incredibly warm start in the upper 70s, highs will climb to between 105° and 108°. If you’re keeping score, our daily record for tomorrow is 99 set back in 1924! A ridge of high pressure will keep things sunny for Wednesday.
Temperatures will cool more meaningfully on Thursday, with highs in the low triple digits. And, a gradual cool-down will continue through the weekend and into early next week. That said, an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING will continue through Sunday evening. However, Sunday, the 4th of July, will be much cooler. In fact, we will have our first day back in the 90s. There’s no sign of rain in the 7-day forecast.
