All suspects in Yakama Reservation murders taken into custody

The final suspect at large in the White Swan murders has been arrested by police, according to Yakama Nation officials.

James Cloud, 35, was arrested in connection to the killing of five people on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday afternoon, three people were found shot to death at 5000 Medicine Valley Road. Another person was found dead on Evans Road between Brown and Shields. A fifth person died at the hospital from a gunshot wound.

Authorities said there were three separate scenes involved in Saturday’s incident, but did not describe how they were connected.

On Sunday, Yakima County Sheriff Robert Udell said three suspects were taken into custody, while the fourth suspect, Cloud, remained at large.

It is unclear at this time when or where Cloud was taken into custody.

Udell did say a light-colored truck with two people inside broke on Stephenson Road after the shooting. Udell said the people inside ditched the truck and ran through a field.

Udell said they went through a homeowner’s property and carjacked them outside their home on Evans Road. Udell said a blue truck was stolen and confirmed this was related to the killings.

Jim Curtice, Yakima County Coroner, said autopsies will begin Monday for those killed.
