A Jack in the Box employee in Airway Heights was in for quite the surprise when he opened the trunk of his car on Tuesday and found a man wearing nothing but socks and underwear hiding inside.

According to the Airway Heights Police Department, the employee had just gotten off work late Tuesday evening when he noticed his car in disarray. Amid the strewn about belongings, the man said he found a phone and wallet on the seat that didn’t belong to him.

The employee told police he opened his trunk, and that’s where he found a man- later identified as 35-year-old Jy Jy Jones- wearing nothing but socks and underwear.

Police said Jones got out and ran toward Papa Murphy’s Pizza.

One witness saw Jones and yelled for him to stop. In response, they said Jones put a finger to his mouth in a “shushing” motion before proceeding to climb over the rock pillar in front of Papa Murphy’s and onto the roof of a nearby business.

AHPD officers responded to the area and, with the help of the Airway Heights Fire Department’s ladder truck, followed suit.

Once on top of the building, officers said they found an open door panel that led to the attic of Papa Murphy’s. Upon entering the attic, officers said they heard a man yell, “Oh hell no!” and looked up to find Jones hiding in the rafters.

Police arrested Jones for burglary 2nd degree and vehicle prowling 2nd degree.

When questioned, Jones said he was hiding in the trunk because someone he didn’t know with two dogs was chasing him. Police said he admitted to being high on meth and had no idea where the rest of his clothes might be.

Now, Airway Heights Police Department is using the events from Tuesday night to issue a reminder.

In a statement posted to Facebook, AHPD said, “Don’t do drugs, kids.”
