Airway Heights Lifts Lockdown
SPOKANE — Authorities have lifted a five-day lockdown at Airway Heights Corrections Center that began Sunday.
The lockdown was precipitated by several fights that broke out Sunday. Two corrections center staff members were injured while responding to the fights.
The facility, which holds 1,560 medium and minimum security prisoners, has been gradually scaling back the lockdown over the last several days based on prisoner behavior.
“Staff and offenders are eager to begin the new routine for offender work and school programs,” Authorities said in a press release Thursday morning.
Regular visitation hours are set to resume on Friday.
