Abandoned Dogs Rescued Near Ritzville
RITZVILLE — Acting on a tip the Ritzville Othello Animal Shelter has rescued a group of malnourished dogs abandoned near the Tokio grain elevators.
The dogs found near the elevators had been dumped their recently. One of them had been hit and killed by a passing train. Volunteers were able to catch six of the eight dogs that had been left near the elevator.
All six of the dogs rescued were found to be malnourised and not cared for, and have since been placed in foster homes across the state where they will undergo a lengthy recovery process and extensive medical care to rehabilitate them.
The shelter, which is a non-profit organization, is seeking donations to help care for the dogs. If anyone can help with the dogs’ recovery they are asked to send donations to: Ritzville Pet Rescue PO 311, Ritzville, WA 99169.
Meanwhile the sheriff’s office is seeking information on who dumped these dogs near the Tokio elevators. Anyone with information about this is asked to call the Adams County Sheriff’s Department in Ritzville at 509-652-1122.
