SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane girl who just turned seven did something unexpected for her birthday.

Instead of asking for gifts for herself, Addison asked her party guests to bring items to help foster families.

Addison planned this out before the party. Her family got in touch with Spokane Angels, a nonprofit that supports kids in the foster care system and their caretakers, to see how they could help.

Spokane Angels gave Addison a list of gift ideas for two families. Addison and her ten friends helped collect books, shoes, baking supplies, toys and more. All of that will go to five girls and a boy in foster care, according to the nonprofit.

In an online post, Spokane Angels spoke about how grateful the group is for the kind act of service.
