16-Year-Old Drowns During Family Outing
PATEROS, WA. — A 16-year-old boy is dead after drowning in Alta Lake near Pateros Sunday evening.
Family members of Jesus Talavera, of Pateros, say he could not swim and was playing near the shore. The teen somehow got into water that was over his head and family members heard him yelling for help before he went under.
Once family members pulled him from the water they performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Talavera was transported to the Okanogan-Douglas County Hospital in Brewster, where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m. Sunday night.
