13-year-old driver leads Grant Co. law enforcement on high speed chase

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, a Quincy police officer tried to pull over a car with five people inside after it blew through stop signs around 10:40 p.m. Monday.

Instead of pulling over, the 13-year-old driver sped up to 110 mph towards the city of George. About 10 minutes into the chase, Quincy PD stopped pursuing the car because it was too dangerous.

Several minutes later, a Grant County Sheriff’s deputy found the car on Beverly Burke Rd., approaching SR 26, and tried to pull it over again.

The driver again refused to stop, this time speeding up to 90 mph, but lost control of the car around a sharp turn. Three of the five people inside were injured. Two, including the driver, were taken to the hospital.

Once released from medical care, the 13-year-old was arrested for two counts of attempt to elude law enforcement.
